句中的complimentary是多益測驗的核心字彙，值得一學！在學英文的過程中，你一定聽過英文老師說「謝謝你的誇獎！」是Thanks for your compliment!。這個簡單的短句中，compliment是「誇獎、恭維、讚美」之意，而加上了字尾「-ary」的complimentary是它的形容詞，表示有「讚賞的、恭維的、表示敬意的」之意。有趣的是，既然是對對方的恭維與敬意，所以形容詞complimentary又衍申出另一個字義：免費的、贈送的。
例句：There will be a complimentary basket of excellent local fruit in the hotel room.（旅館房間內會有一籃免費的本地頂級水果。）
