蘋果的 iPhone 曾發生過使用者在充電時起火甚至觸電身亡的不幸案例，雖然最後查詢源頭皆因使用非原廠充電器所導致的，不過蘋果在 2013 年 8 月時還曾在全球發動了一次副廠 USB 充電器召回計劃，以降低因使用不合格充電器所產生的風險，至於蘋果的 USB 充電器真的比較好嗎？那我們不妨從內部用料與配置來看起吧。
部落客 Ken Shirriff 在自己的網頁就親用拆開了各一個蘋果原廠與冒充原廠的 iPad USB 充電器，並比較其內部電路板配置與使用的零件，讓所有人都可以看清兩者的差異。從外觀上，蘋果原廠 iPad USB 充電器與仿冒品的差異不大，不過內部的差別可不小。
內部用料差異大

左側列出的為蘋果原廠充電器，右側則是仿冒品，按照說明，仿冒品上雖然也打上了各個認證合格的標誌，不過事實上它是無法通過任何的安全檢查。從內部來看，原廠在小小的空間中擠滿各式的電容與 IC 等，而仿冒品看起來就非常的簡單且留下許多空間，而蘋果之所以會用上這麼多零件，主要是這些電容對供電的安全與品質有著絕對的影響。

最明顯的是，蘋果充電器上有著許多絕緣的設計，如充電器上半部有高壓電部分用著黄色的膠帶進行隔絕，電線也有套管。而仿冒品除了一小部分有貼上膠帶進行絕緣外，許多 IC 的接點部分明顯露出一部分的接線，IC 的安置也歪斜不正，Ken Shirriff 便指出，雖然沒整齊放置並不影鄉功能，但卻可以明顯看出是否正視此一產品。
