01acd15e0cac4e1953735eb0694e3067 智慧手錶等等的穿戴式裝置近期愈來愈受矚目，但若要說起終極的穿戴式裝置，就不能不提到這種可監測人體健康狀態的「體內機器人」，大家都相當期待它被實現的那天到來，但在那個時候，會面臨到的最大問題應該就是負責提供機器人動力來源的電池了。

現今的科技都是利用鋰電池做為硬體設備的主要電力供應，但它對人體其實是有害的，因此無法在「體內機器人」上使用，因此也就更顯示出新型電池開發的必要性，而這種應用在體內機器人上的「生物分解性電池」目前也已經被開發成功。

美國伊利諾大學（University of Illinois）的研究團隊成功開發出可在人體內進行自然分解的生物分解性電池，這項成果也在材料科學的學術周刊「Advanced Materials」上發表。2012年伊利諾大學的材料學博士John Rogers成功開發出具有生物分解性的矽晶片，此矽晶片可經由無線通信，從外部去監測人體內的溫度和身體對機械的負荷程度。由於這個晶片是透過電磁感應的方式做為動力來源，必須從外部去傳輸電力，然而這樣一來，卻造成了體內機器人使用上的障礙。

因此，Rogers博士和其研究團隊就著手進行生物分解性電池的開發，電池的正極含有鎂元素，負極則有鐵、鉬、鎢等元素，再以磷酸鹽緩衝生理食鹽水作為兩電極間的電解質來開發出這種電池。只要將電池中所使用的合金保持低濃度的離子狀態，對於生物體就不會造成損害，再加上電池的外殼是以可生物分解的聚合物所構成，這些無毒的材料即使在人體內溶解，也完全不需要擔心會產生毒害。

在實驗過程中，電池連續24小時以上將輸出電壓維持在0.45～0.75伏特，並成功地使LED燈泡發光。此外，這個電池採用序列化的堆疊設計，在華氏98.6度（攝氏37度）的生理食鹽水中浸泡11天後就會鬆散為層狀結構，若更進一步地將它浸泡在華氏185度（攝氏85度）的環境下，8天後就會在水溶液中完全溶解。

這次製作的是輸出電流較小的電池，堆疊起來的大小約為4 x30 x13 mm，以人體內的用途來說算是相當大的尺寸，它的材料不僅具有生物相容性，且對環境也完全無害。Rogers博士表示，「電池的電極表面處理更加複雜，藉此可製造出體積更小，而電流更大的電池」，也期待未來可以將生物分解性電池應用在藥物傳輸系統（Drug Delivery System, DDS）上。
