Sony expects its Ultra HD TV sales to increase four-fold in 2014 and also aims to hold a 10% global share in LCD TV shipments, according to the company.
The company aims to ship roughly 20 million LCD TVs and estimates that its overall Ultra HD TV shipments will increase four-fold in 2014, with Ultra HD TV sales in the China market increasing six times.
Overall, Sony's increased global LCD TV market share is expected to increase through sales of Ultra HD TVs.
The company did not say, however, what it expects Ultra HD TV shipments to reach globally, but market observers estimate shipments between 13-15 million units.
In 2014 Sony's TV business strategy will be similar to what it was in 2013, with a focus mostly on high-end units in addition to large-size Ultra HD units, the company added.
Sony also reportedly plans to significantly decrease its outsourced TV orders, and will further focus on in-house production, the company said.
Meanwhile in the Taiwan market, Sony held a 21% market share in LCD TV sales throughout January and February 2014, the company noted.
