據3DPrint報導，首款以碳纖維為材料的 3D 印表機已經發佈，是由 MarkForged 這家公司所生產，名稱為「Mark One」的機器；這家公司的老版 Mark 還開了另一家叫 Aeromotios 的公司，後者主要生產碳纖維機翼和擾流板。碳纖維這種材料既輕又硬，強度是鋼的五倍，重量只有其三分之一。
