隨著智慧型手機的硬體效能逐步提升，手機遊戲有如大爆炸般迅速增加。某些較複雜的遊戲無法單純以手指觸控操作，必須以方向鍵及按鈕才能完整控制，因此受限於手機觸控介面，遊戲開發商只能為遊戲加上虛擬按鍵操作。不過虛擬按鍵完全沒有真實按鍵觸感，指向性也不明確，操控體驗大打折扣，這也是傳統掌上型遊戲機（PS VITA 或 3DS）仍舊吸引人的原因之一。

手機遊戲好玩歸好玩，不過在全觸控的操控方式下，似乎就少了一些玩遊戲的味道。為此三星公佈智慧型手機專用遊戲手把（Smartphone GamePad），與手機結合後，便能享受到如電玩主機般的操控手感，並提供 HDMI 或鏡像輸出至電視上遊玩，無需屈就於小小的手機螢幕。
