德國今天表示，針對媒體報導英國在駐德大使館設立秘密監聽站一事，已要求英國大使提出解釋。報導說，這處監聽站距離德國總理梅克爾辦公室不遠。

外交部發言人說，德方召喚英國使節，表明「由使館竊聽通訊違反國際法」。

英國「獨立報」（Independent）今天報導，美國國安局文件顯示，英國政府通訊總部（GCHQ）利用安裝在英國駐德國使館屋頂的高科技設備，在鄰近德國聯邦議院和梅克爾辦公室的工作站進行秘密竊聽行動。

英國首相府發言人說：「我們不對有關情報的事務置評。」

報導說，英國政府通訊總部和美國與其他重要夥伴一同執行這項監控行動，利用位在各國的大使館建築，攔截該國的通訊資料。

獨立報援引的佐證包括空拍照片與有關德國先前監控活動的資料，以及美國國家安全局（NSA）承包商前雇員史諾登（Edward Snowden）提供的文件。史諾登已逃到莫斯科。

美國遭指在全球各地從事監控行動，包括監聽梅克爾的手機，已引發各國公憤。

獨立報報導，由於華府亟於控制這場紛爭造成的損害，設在美國駐柏林大使館屋頂的監聽站，據信已在上週關閉。

獨立報刊登英國與美國使館的空拍照片，凸顯據稱是攔截資訊「掩體」的大型白色盒狀設施。

英國與美國大使館都座落於柏林市中心布蘭登堡門（Brandenburg Gate）邊的同個街區。
