企業普遍使用 Email 後，除了讓同仁間的訊息交換更方便之外，也等於給了每個人一個廣播電台，徹底改寫了以往「上對下」為主的溝通模式。近幾年 Facebook、WeChat、Whatsapp、Line 的興起，更是把這個「通訊下放」帶到了另一個高度。也因此，新一代的企業多講求「透明」，反正訊息是藏不住的，不如擁抱新的世界，讓每個人都知道公司的大小事，還可以增加參與度與向心力。

但任何事情過猶不及，極度的透明不一定是好事。近來有好幾家 AppWorks Startups 陸續成功完成募資，而完成後 CEO 們會跟我討論的其中一個題目，就是這中間的細節應該讓團隊知道多少。

首先，我會說在一個完美的世界，裡面每個同仁都非常理性、非常知道輕重、擁有高度的財務知識，且完全以公司未來為人生目標時，則創業 CEO 可以對公司全體完全透明，因為他知道所有人都會像他一樣，根據公司的體質調整努力的方向與節奏，並且不會因為財務壓力而心煩氣躁，影響工作的生產力。

但畢竟我們不在一個理想世界，現實生活中多數人並不是非常理性，也往往沒有必要的財務知識，更很難要求他們與你的公司共存亡。因此為了讓船能夠繼續用最快的時速前進，並且能在必要的時候靈活的轉彎，關於公司財務資訊的透明化，實務上必須要有一些權衡。以下是一些值得思考的點：

激勵機制
當然必須要有一些機制激勵同仁努力，但是不是一定要用營業額、利潤等財務數字就值得深入思考。財務往往是落後指標，且太過講求金錢會塑造短視的企業文化，這些都是用財務去激勵的缺陷。最厲害的企業應該把財務成長拆分成函數，例如：用戶取得成本 (CPA)、活躍用戶數、付費比、平均每戶貢獻額 (ARPU)、留存率等等，並且把每個指標交給一些人負責，則當大家的數字都在成長時，整體企業的營運績效也就會成長。(當然這裡也要小心單一指標短期最佳化造成公司長期損失的風險)

工作安全
雖然「穩定的工作」是一種迷思，但多數人還是在意的。太過在公司內部分享 Runway (跑道)、Leeway (餘地)、Burn Rate*，弄得人心惶惶反而不利於公司在時間內更上一層樓。無論如何，新創公司都必須要做出好產品、抓住好客人，才能夠存活並且長大。只要大家已經用最高的時速推進，剩下的現金壓力應該由 CEO 與核心團隊扛下就好。(*另外，我建議少用 Burn Rate 這個字)
