前副總統蕭萬長今天擔任辜振甫暨辜嚴倬雲台灣研究講座首場主講人，會後受訪說，「王院長碰到這個事情，我對他表示很同情，他對國家、對黨都有很多貢獻」。

蕭萬長並進一步表示，他於行政院服務期間，受到王金平很多幫忙，到現在為止都很感謝他。不過民主政治紛爭吵鬧難免，「希望紛爭趕快過去，因為台灣現在面臨最大問題是，如何把經濟做好，拚經濟是民眾最關心的事情。」
