【蔡裕隆／台北報導】繼裕隆與達欣新洋將陸續抵台後，台啤新洋將馬力特(Scott Merritt)也在昨晚來台，準備在後天開打的花蓮觀護盃進行測試。馬力特抵台不到24小時，今晚即首度參與練球，加緊和隊友的磨合。
 
31歲的馬力特，身高約206公分，畢業於美國大學男籃第1級學校馬魁特大學，和NBA熱火韋德(Dwyane Wade)是同屆隊友，也是暴龍射手諾瓦克(Steve Novak)的學長，過去3季分別在日本與南韓職籃打球。
 
對於為何會選擇來台灣，馬力特表示：「我認識台啤前洋將艾倫(Byron Allen)與崔姆(Kibwe Trim)，來台灣前曾聽過他們的意見，覺得SBL是個不錯的聯盟，台灣天氣也很好，就想來看看。」
 
台啤教練劉嘉發在看過馬力特首度練球後，對他的技巧與經驗印象比較深刻，至於體力與對抗性，由於才來台不久，目前還看不出來，將藉觀護盃好好測試。
