The Cure
治病
One morning when Tom Jones woke up, he had a bad headache and a sore throat.
Tom went to the clinic. There were a lot of people in the waiting room, and Tom had to wait a long time before the doctor could see him. At last, the doctor was free, and the nurse showed Tom into the doctor's room.
一天早上當Tom Jones起牀時，他的頭很痛而喉嚨也痠痛，Tom到醫院求診，有許多人在候診室等候多時才能夠就診。最後，醫生有空時，護士將Tom叫進聽診室。
"Sit down, please," the doctor said, " and tell me your problem."
"Well," Tom said, "I have a bad headache and a sore throat, and i can't stop sneezing."
醫生說：「請坐！」，並詢問:「告訴我你有什麼問題？」
Tom說：「我頭痛喉嚨痛不停打噴嚏。」
"You've just got a cold," the doctor said, "There's no cure for a cold, I'm sorry, but I can't give you anything that will make it better. Just go home, drink a lot of fluids, and go to bed for a few days." Tom was not happy.
醫生說：「你已經感冒了！很抱歉！感冒無藥醫，無法給你任何的緩解藥物。回家吧！多喝水睡個幾天！」。Tom感到不高興！
"There must be something you can give me, doctor," he said. "I don't want to be like this for several days."
他說：「醫生你應該可以幫點什麼忙的！」，他說：「我不想這樣就過幾天！」
The doctor thought for a moment. Then he said, "OK. Go home ad get into a hot bath. stay in it for half an hour until the water is cold. Then put on your swimming suit and run around the streets until you are really cold. Then lie down on the grass."
醫生思考了一會兒，然後說：「好的！回家洗個熱水澡，泡個半小時直到洗澡水變冷為止。然後穿上的你的游泳衣在街上跑步，直到你感覺真的很冷為止，然後就躺在草地上。」
Tom was surprised. " But doctor," he said, "if I do what you are telling me to do, I'll get pneumonia. That's much more serious than an ordinary cold."
Tom感到很驚訝說：「但是醫生啊！」，他說:「假如我照你所說的去做，我會得肺炎！這可比平常的感冒更嚴重了！」
"I know," the doctor said, "but there's a cure for pneumonia."
醫生說：「我知道！但我能夠治好肺炎！」
