在傳出蕯默斯不競逐下屆美國聯準會主席下，國際美元走弱，加上台股大漲逾百點，新台幣兌美元16日以29.721元作收、升值1.21角，台北外匯經紀公司成交量8.05億美元。

由於傳出蕯默斯自美國聯準會下屆主席考慮名單撤除，加上美俄消除敘利亞化武計畫達成協議後，原油價格下跌，美元兌多數主要貨幣走弱，在亞洲貨幣部分，韓元一度來到1080韓元兌1美元，人民幣兌美元中間價也創匯改新高。

至於新台幣，匯銀人士表示，早盤以29.81元升值開出後，在台股走揚，加上亞幣轉強下，隨後升破29.8、29.7元價位，一度來到29.611元、升值逾2角。

雖然央行仍有進場調節，不過，在台股大漲逾百點，亞幣走強之下，新台幣兌美元最後以29.721元作收、仍升值1.21角。
