去年來台加入中華職棒義大犀牛隊的曼尼Manny Ramirez，轉戰小熊3A當教練，兼任選手。小熊隊聲稱，不會把42歲的曼尼升上大聯盟。

小熊棒球事業部總裁Theo Epstein發表聲明：「曼尼的正職是教練，並在不影響其他潛力股打者機會的前提下，偶爾客串選手。」

「要是Manny的打擊還有兩把刷子，也許其他球隊會找他上大聯盟，但我們找他來，不是為了看他能否重返大聯盟。他願意跟年輕小將共事，我們非常感動。」

Epstein過去曾跟曼尼在紅襪共事，2004、07兩度獲得世界大賽冠軍。有了這層淵源，曼尼要把畢生絕學，傳授給小熊農場打者。
