飛利浦（Philips）和埃森哲（Accenture）兩公司於美國時間2014年8月5日宣佈，開發出了將可測量腦波的設備和可穿戴顯示器連接在一起的概念驗證用軟體（英文相關資料）。有望應用於協助肌萎縮側索硬化症（ALS，俗稱為漸凍人症）等神經退化類疾病患者的自立等用途。

該軟體可使具有腦波掃描功能的設備「Emotiv Insight Brainware」與可穿戴顯示器聯動，由埃森哲技術實驗室與飛利浦數字加速器實驗室共同開發。螢幕上的用戶界面由埃森哲旗下的設計諮詢公司Fjord設計。

據介紹，該系統將Emotiv Insight Brainware和可穿戴顯示器連接至平板電腦，使用戶能夠通過腦部發出的指令來控制飛利浦生產的電視機、LED照明燈及緊急通知服務系統等。即便是失去肌肉及眼部運動能力的ALS患者，也能通過腦部發出的指令來操作與平板電腦連接的產品。Emotiv Insight Brainware配備了可即時檢測患者的意志、感情及表情，並捕捉其腦部電信號的感測器技術。

用戶還可通過視線或語音來控制家電產品。通過使用可穿戴顯示器，可利用視覺來操作APP菜單。（記者：大下淳一，《日經數位健康》）
