迪士尼互動部門的主管 Ivan Poupyrev 解釋道,我們的大腦感知三維凹凸的表面主要來自接受我們皮膚在摩擦中產生的拉伸資訊。因此,如果我們能夠在觸控式螢幕幕的時候人為地拉伸手指上的皮膚,就可以欺騙大腦,使大腦以為手指在觸摸實際的物體,即使觸摸表面是像螢幕一樣光滑的。當手指在移動的時候,接收到摩擦力的大小可以不斷變化,從而模擬出連續不斷且不同的觸感。
目前行動設備已經完成了按鍵到螢幕的互動革命,對於迪士尼這一 3D 觸感螢幕技術的前景,

Ivan Poupyrev 認為是很有潛力的,他說:
「觸摸互動已經成為了智慧型手機、平板電腦以及桌上型電腦的標準對話模式。所以我們設計開發的這套將視覺內容轉變為可信的觸覺感受在豐富使用者體驗方面有著巨大的潛在價值。我們相信我們的演算法可以讓觸控螢在視覺之外提供豐富觸感成為可能,這也將催生為 3D 觸感螢幕設計的應用。」
雖然原理看起來並不複雜,但是觸覺是一個十分微妙的東西,而且很多事物的質感不僅僅體現的觸感上,而且對螢幕技術也提出了更高的要求,所以迪士尼目前研發的這個 3D 觸感專案能做到什麼樣的逼真程度還值得期待。如果要是真的能夠做到亂真的程度,相信將會是觸控螢幕人機互動介面後的又一次飛躍,尤其是在電商以及遊戲等方面將會有很大的空間可供施展。(GIGAOM)
