挨台塑告判駁回　興大教授莊秉潔強調不退縮

【鄭敏玲／台中報導】中興大學工學院環工系教授莊秉潔遭台塑公司控告妨害名譽損害賠償民事訴訟、合併求償四千萬一案，台北地院今日判決駁回。中興大學校長李德財公開力挺，除對司法判決的結果表示肯定，也強調學術自由不容受外力干預。莊秉潔也表示，身在學界，基於學術倫理，不能輕易更改數字，也不能因為鉅額求償而退縮。但一年半的訴訟已造成寒蟬效應。學生擔心被告，甚至對已被起訴短報空汚排放量的工廠，也不敢在論文中撰寫工廠名稱。他期待未來外界能給學界更大空間,也強調這項判決結果對學術研究是莫大鼓舞。
