澳洲自行車專欄作家湯瑪斯表示，全球最佳的自行車登山車道有6條，其中包括台灣的太魯閣。

湯瑪斯（Steve Thomas）曾多次來台並發表推薦文。這回他在澳洲SBS新聞網的「單車中心」（CyclingCenter）說，太魯閣等6條自行車登山車道很讚。

他說，這條車道由東台灣的花蓮一路上行，行經令人印象深刻的太魯閣峽谷，至海拔3275公尺的武嶺，整個路段相當特別，攻頂過程雖艱辛，到山頂後可瞭望環繞台灣的壯麗山景，美不勝收。

湯瑪斯表示，若由台中出發，沿著約8到10度的坡度前行，路程比較輕鬆且路面情況佳，交通順暢。

他說，太魯閣自行車登山道每年11月舉辦登山賽，許多歐洲的知名選手都不會錯過這項賽事。

湯瑪斯按讚的其他登山車道還包括夏威夷毛伊島的哈列卡拉車道（Haleakala）、哥倫比亞的高地車道（Alto de Letras）、巴基斯坦到中國大陸的紅基拉甫口（Khunjerab Pass）、秘魯的提克里歐口（TiclioPass）、智利的黑水高山道（Paso Alto de AguaNegra）。(中央社)
