【綜合報導】美國總統歐巴馬28日在金恩博士50年前發表演說的林肯紀念堂（Lincoln Memorial）臺階上發言。歐巴馬認為，當年金恩領導的遊行改變了美國，「在正義的戰場中，不分階級、財富與身份的男女解放了我們」。他還改編了金恩引用主張廢奴牧師帕克(Theodore Parker)的名言「道德宇宙的弧線雖漫長，但終歸正義」（The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice），歐巴馬說：「道德宇宙的弧線也許終歸正義，但絕不會憑空得來」（The arc of the moral universe may bend toward justice, but it doesn't bend on its own），向前人的努力致敬。
 
身為美國立國以來首位黑人總統的歐巴馬27日接受電台訪問時也說：「當你們談到金恩博士的演說時，你們提到的可能是美國史上五大著名演說之一。他在那個時刻，所說的那些話，是那麼重要，他抓住整個世代希望與夢想的方式，我想無人足以比擬。」美國前總統卡特（Jimmy Carter）和柯林頓（BillClinton）今天都在典禮上發言，典禮在金恩說出民權運動響亮號召「讓自由迴響」（Let Freedom Ring）名句的下午3時（台北時間29日凌晨3時）敲響鐘聲。
