榮景不再　英格蘭最後一家捲煙廠遷離

英國的帝國捲煙廠1930年代曾有7000名員工，每天生產1百萬支香煙，在諾丁漢更是首屈一指的大企業。但如今因為香煙銷量下滑，不但廠內僅剩540名員工，公司日前更決定乾脆將工廠遷離英格蘭。

諾丁漢大學英格蘭地方歷史教授約翰貝克特說，在維多利亞時代，福利一直是這間企業的重點。當時管理層請工人們出外度假，還修建運動設施希望能增加生產量。但如今人們因為健康考量少抽香菸，煙草業的衰敗並不令人意外。

諾丁漢的帝國捲煙廠關閉後，如今在英國的捲煙廠僅剩由日本煙草國際公司設在北愛爾蘭的工廠。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
