彭博報導，美國5月芝加哥地區商業活動隨著接單加速，出乎意料衝上7個月高點，顯現製造業將有助於帶動經濟。

供應管理協會芝加哥分會（ISM Chicago Inc.）今天公布，傳統上稱作芝加哥採購經理人指數（PMI）的商情晴雨指數從4月的63提升至65.5。彭博調查46名經濟師的預估中值為降至61。數值高於50意味成長。

占美國經濟比重約12%的製造業成長，受到汽車、家電和機械等耐久財需求升溫的支撐。勞動市場將必須加速改善，方能加強工資成長並拉抬消費支出，繼而為製造業創造更多訂單。

儘管接單增加，本月生產和工廠人力雇用擴張步調卻放慢。

彭博調查統整的預估值，介於58和65之間。
