前總統陳水扁嫡系子弟兵、台北市議員江志銘公開力挺前副總統呂秀蓮，參選明年的台北市長。民進黨立委許添財今（4）日受訪時，不願評論呂秀蓮，但他強調，「因為有人徵詢過我，所以我就要準備啊！」

許添財表示，曾有同志關心、詢問過，因此「需要我的時候，我已經準備好了！」他說，他是以國家前途、台灣未來為使命，會好好慎重思考這個問題。

媒體詢問，是否曾跟阿扁討論，「我從來沒有跟阿扁討論，因為我不是去爭取，也不是跟誰競爭，是因為有人徵詢過我，所以我就要準備啊！」至於是誰徵詢過？許添財說，「軍事機密啊！」
