外埔區一家種鵝場經確診，場內雞鴨確已感染H5禽流感病毒亞型，二十二日台中市動物保護防疫處動員三十人前往撲殺全部鵝隻一千二百隻，有警察局、衛生局、環保局、區公所及化製車支援，希望避免疫情擴散。

動保處表示，八日至二十二日中午十二時止，接獲通報並送驗的禽場共有四場，包括外埔區種鵝一場、外埔區種鴨、肉鴨及雞混養一場、外埔區種鴨、肉鵝及土雞混養一場及神岡區肉雞一場。其中外埔區鵝場有確診感染H5禽流感病毒亞型，二十二日上午也已完成撲殺工作。

大甲警分局安定派出所為免疫情繼續蔓延，郭所長放棄休假帶領所內全體同仁配合台中市政府動物防疫處人員全程身著防護衣協助管制，做到滴水不漏之程度，獲得動物防疫處人員表達感謝協助之意

衛生局長徐永年表示，H5禽流感全世界尚無人類感染病例，呼籲市民不用恐慌，只要勿接觸與餵食禽鳥，禽肉及蛋類煮熟後食用，即可有效防範。
