521台北捷運發生隨機殺人案，釀成4死、24傷慘劇，並讓不少旅客因此不敢搭乘捷運，社會大眾的警覺性也提高，6日下午北捷北投站也出現模仿情事，一名疑似喝醉的66歲賴姓男子，手持菜刀和水果刀，在出口揮刀及咆哮。

據了解，此男並非第一次有此情形，在萬隆站也曾眾目睽睽下揮刀，這次因儲值問題對站務人員咆哮，路人報警才化解此一危機，賴姓男子辯稱喝醉才會失控，最後男子酒測值0.76。

台北捷運在5月21日發生驚悚的殺人事件，也是系統營運20年來，發生全國第一起列車車廂傷人事件，事發後，民眾對於捷運的安全蒙上了一層無形陰影。為守護旅客與員工安全，捷運工會與台北市議員促催生捷運義勇警察隊。

另外，北捷統計5月21日至30日為止，北捷10天運量共減少逾94萬5000名旅客人次，營運損失金額達2061萬餘元，因此4日向新北地院遞狀，對鄭捷求償「運量損失」2061萬多元。
