針對餿水油事件，被點名稽查不力的屏東縣長曹啟鴻昨向社會道歉，並宣布5名1級主管准辭，對此，民進黨主席主席蔡英文今（17）日受訪時表示，曹啟鴻在一開始就表現負責任的態度，他也認為很多事情需要做進一步釐清，所以才會在昨天出面道歉，並且有五個局處首長請辭，展現負責任的態度。

蔡英文今陪同民進黨新竹市長參選人林智堅赴竹蓮市場掃街，接受媒體訪問時，作上述表示。

蔡英文說，希望事件之後，政府機關、政黨或相關單位，共同就食品安全管制機制做總檢討，食品產業在這次受到很大的打擊，怎麼樣可以讓食品產業重新站起來，配合新的管理機制，讓整體產業和食品安全雙贏，這是最重要的責任。
